How to use Garbage Disposal
The left side sink drain has a garbage disposal. Keep the plug in place loosely to keep non-food items from going in there. There is no switch to turn it on. You need to put the plug in and turn it to the right to get it to operate. Run the water while the garbage disposal is on.
Black grates on the deck
The black grates on the deck are to help handle the large volume of snow in the winters. If the sun is shining directly on them, they get hot. We recommend that you not walk on them or the metal door sills barefooted.
Water Usage / Well
Our home is supplied by a deep well with a large capacity for storage, but due to our high-altitude location, the well replenishes itself more slowly.

Things like washing vehicles, letting the water run for long periods of time (inside or out) or many people taking long showers and/or baths all at the same time can put a strain on capacity. To ensure everyone enjoys their visit, we kindly ask guests to be mindful of their water use. While our home can sleep more, we recommend only accommodating up to 8 guests.
Garbage
Please use 13 gallon garbage bags only and dispose of garbage in cans on the driveway side of the house.
Refrigerator
Avoid filling the Refrigerator or Beverage Cool full of warm beverages.
It will take a long time to get them all cooled down. Instead start with a smaller amount and then add more after it has cooled. Do not turn the dial to the coldest temperature, this won’t help it cool faster and could cause the unit to shut down or freeze your food and/or beverages.
Grill
We do not charge for the use the grill but we do request that you clean it and check to make sure it’s turned off after use so it’s ready for the next guest.

Temperature Regulation
The thermostat is located in the kitchen on the wall near the spiral stairs. It’s pretty easy to use but if you have any problems, please feel free to text or call.
If you have the air conditioning turned on, keep all the doors and windows closed. Should you choose to open the windows for fresh air - turn off the air conditioning. Seems obvious but you’d be surprised :-)
The big windows are wonderful but if the forecast calls for very hot, sunny weather, the A/C may have a hard time keeping up with the solar energy. Please do not set the air conditioning below 68 degrees. It won’t cool any better or faster and you run the risk of the ruining the condenser or having it freeze up and not work at all.
Instead, we suggest closing the blinds on the side of the house where the sun is shining to minimize the solar effect. As soon as the sun moves, you can open them up again. Running the ceiling fans helps as well.
Air conditioner malfunction is not considered an emergency and will be handled as soon as we can have a service technician out to the property.
In the same way, if weather is very cold, you may want to close the blinds at night to minimize heat loss.
Flushing & Drains / Septic
Our home is not on city sewer. We have a septic system that requires TLC to maintain a long life and avoid problems that can interrupt your vacation. Being careful will help to prevent clogging and back up.
If it isn’t human waste or toilet paper, it doesn’t go down the toilet. There is no such thing as flushable wipes - they are notorious for creating clogs and back ups.
PLEASE DO NOT EVER put the following in the toilet or in the sink drains.
Feminine products, Condoms, Diapers, Grease, Cotton Swabs, Cigarette Butts,
Coffee Grounds, Paper Towels, Latex Paint, Pesticides, Chemicals, Wipes of Any Kind (flushable or not flushable), Antibacterial soap, Dental Floss, Candy Wrappers.
THANK YOU FOR BEING CAREFUL WITH OUR HOME!
Lower Level Fireplace
Don’t use fireplace with whole house fan on. It will bring smoke and ash into the house.
Bonfire/Firepit
Please check local fire conditions before using the bonfire/fire pit.

Granite
Do not use cleaner with vinegar on the granite countertops.
Cleaner with vinegar is for use on the stainless surfaces.
Not Handicap Accessible
Unfortunately our home is not handicap accessible. There are stairs outside and inside our home.
Security
We have 3 Security Cameras. They are all outside. There is one on the end of the deck to try to catch wildlife that frequents the property. There is one by the front door and there is one near the storage shed in the back. They are there for security. Tampering with the cameras in anyway is a serious violation and will result in immediately being asked to leave.
No Pets Allowed
Due to serious family allergies, PLEASE no pets are allowed. Sneaking a pet in is a serious violation of the house rules and will result in a $1000 deep cleaning fee and you may be asked to leave if you do not board the animal. Cancellation of the remainder of your stay will result.
No Smoking or Vaping Allowed
Due to serious family allergies, PLEASE no smoking or vaping. Violation will result in a deep cleaning fee.
